Hexagonite

Tremolite used to be found in 1789. Hexagonite, a varietal form on tremolite, has a Mohs stiffness over 5.0-6.0. It’s the Manganoan variety of Tremolite distinguished by its lilac that is pale to color. Tremolite is really a member of the mineral that is amphibol which also includes Actinolite, Jade, and Nephrite. Hexagonite is pleochroic, probably displaying various hues of blue, violet, purple, then red. It is also recognized namely “mangan-tremolite”, due to the fact the manganese imparts the mineral’s same colors. Pink, lilac, then red are the most common colors. Transparent examples including the first-rate coloration are just prized. Hexagonite execute also show a proper Cat’s remark effect.  Like tremolite, that is a calcium magnesium silicate hydroxide together with the formula: Ca2Mg5 (Si8O22) (OH)2.  The mineral was given the name, hexagonite, due to the fact its clear shape was once believed at some period in conformity with stay hexagonal. Since then, however, that has been discovered in conformity with being monoclinic.  Hexagonite has been efficaciously faceted.  Hexagonite is found only in New York, United States Of America in four locations: Edwards, Fowler, and Talcville in St. Lawrence County; and Harrisville in Lewis County.
